European Heritage Days at the Bonnet Silk Museum

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 18 AND 19, VISIT ONE OF THE LARGEST WEAVING FACTORIES SILK FROM EUROPE!

Memory of an industry of excellence, the Soieries Bonnet, it is an unforgettable experience during which you will attend demonstrations of looms, you will exchange with former workers and will also admire unique fabrics, imagined for larger houses (Dior, Chanel ...). A real immersion in the operation of a factory which employed up to 1200 people.

AN IMMERSIVE JOURNEY Visits to the old weaving workshops, meeting with former workers, demonstrations on machines and looms, stages in the creation of a silk fabric or even weaving techniques ... Accompanied by guides, you will discover 200 years of textile history. HOW IS THE VISIT? The visit of the old factory is only possible with a guide. Tours departures are organized every 30 minutes on Saturdays, and every 15 minutes on Sundays. Allow 45 minutes for a guided tour on average. The visit of the exhibitions of the Forge and the Chapel is free. UNAVOIDABLE Former worker at Soieries Bonnet, Jean-François Dupont will perform weaving demonstrations on hand looms!

SPECIAL EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS

"Les Soieries Bonnet, from the factory to the Museum: 20 years!" ",

on the theme of the 2021 EHDs “a heritage for all”.


On the occasion of the 2021 EHDs, Soieries Bonnet have prepared an exhibition highlighting the exceptional heritage of Soieries Bonnet and the transformation of the factory into an immersive cultural site, just 20 years after the company ceased to operate.

In the heart of the old Chapel, you will discover a selection of photographs presenting the remarkable industrial complex from yesterday to today and some significant collections of the extraordinary diversity and consistency of the fund, videos and also games for children: giant model of the site, textile domino etc.!


NB: entry is through the Museum.

Event in partnership with the Cultural Space CJ Bonnet-Commune de Jujurieux and the Friends of Soieries Bonnet association.

USEFUL INFORMATION Possibility to book your guided tour slot by phone or email. Saturday September 18, open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., visits depart every 30 minutes. Sunday September 19, open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., visits depart every 15 minutes.
